15 notes"Black Friday will be the end of Thanksgiving as a holiday. Already Black Friday has truncated our normal full day of thanks from 24 hours to 20, with stores opening at 8pm on the Thursday. Black Friday has cut into Thanksgiving, forcing employees to go into work instead of spend time with their families as well as manipulating people into believing they must miss out on family dinners and festivities in order to get a deal that in retrospect really isn’t that great. More and more stores are opening on Thursday and are opening earlier and earlier every year. Soon, all companies will require that employees report to work and the whole notion of Thanksgiving will be lost due to the materialistic workings of America."
